The Really Serious Oreo Cookie Book Club met March 21 at the home of Rich Schwartz and discussed How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer. The varierty segments of the brain that function on our decision making were reviewed by the author with examples of events from critical decision making in the life of different individuals. Principles and barriers to good decision making were reviewed. The overload of information and our attempts to make patterns of random events were samples of barriers. Metacognition was a facilitator of good decision making. The next meeting will be at the home of Mary Crowl where we will review the book The Way of the World by David Fromkin.
