Our October meeting was filled to capacity to hear Niguel Shores resident Rita Rudner, comedian, best-selling author, screen- writer, playwright and actress. Rita gave insights on her life in entertainment and what led her to our very own community. “The best place I ever lived in the whole country,” she told us. Rita kindly ended the session with a book signing for her latest publication, My Life in Dog Years, and gave all the profits of books purchased at the meeting to Women’s Club for donation to a charity of our selection. We thank Rita for her lively presentation and her sincere generosity.
The speaker for our November 14 meeting is Deanna Bautista from Rise Against Hunger. This organization works worldwide to fight hunger in communities with high rates of food insecurity. Although their meal-based relief is internationally focused, they also provide relief in the United States in the form of hygiene kits, gifts in kind, and
disaster relief. Rise Against Hunger also partners with local leaders to “implement sustainable agriculture and income- generating projects that support long-term solutions to food security and empower communities to become self-reliant and thrive.”
