Many thanks to the more than 400 of our friends and neighbors who joined us for a fine breakfast on the 4th of July and to those who participated in our lottery for tickets to the San Juan Mission Summer Concerts. Both activities contribute greatly to the funding of the Men’s Club’s Annual Scholarship program benefitting local high school scholars. We love providing those scholarships, and we could not do it without your support.
That’s not all we’ve been up to at the Men’s Club. We hosted an evening event in July featuring 49th US Congressional District Representative Mike Levin as guest speaker. Anticipating wide interest, the Men’s Club’s Board authorized members to bring their better halves as guests. Talk about timely! Rep. Levin has been prominent in the national press with his comments about events at San Onofre and the upcoming national election. A large crowd showed up for the event that was both informative and fun.
In August the Men’s Club will meet twice as usual. On August 6 at 0800 hours, our guest speaker will be Cruise Planner extraordinaire Caroline Swift. Our evening meeting on August 20 will feature Deborah Diep from the Center for Demographic Research. This Cal State Fullerton-based research group is a resource you may not know about. Come and hear about their important work.
If you are not yet a member of the Men’s Club, please be our guest at one of our two monthly meetings. You will experience friendly social interactions and stimulating pre- sentations. You will enjoy a fine, hot breakfast at a morning gathering, or if you attend an evening meeting, wine, beer and appetizers will be served at no charge to you. Gen X and Millennials are most welcome. We can always benefit
from a fresh perspective.
