Big thank you to all the residents of the Atlantic streets and their patience with the recent resurfacing project. Summer is not the ideal time for this job, but we were facing significant cost increases due to material costs and supply chain issues so the project timing was moved up to save money.
Speaking of supply chain problems, our maintenance manager George Cooley tells me he has been working since November to purchase needed surveillance monitors and has spent countless hours researching and placing orders only to find out the product is not available. The same is true for the much-needed replacement portable picnic tables at the Bluff, which have been on order for months. This is true even for simple janitorial supplies. Thank goodness George stocked up on everything we needed for the won- derful Independence celebration we enjoyed on 4th of July!
If you actually plan for the monthly street sweeping by moving your car and prepping your gutter by sweeping it by hand (Wait—am I the only one?), you noticed that no one showed up last month. A couple months ago we were informed by our street sweeping company that they sold their business, and we were given the impression that the new company would continue to service our needs. That turned out not to be true, as they only purchased the operations and equipment not the accounts. Bottom line, we need a new street sweeper and have to go through the proposal process and Board approval of a contract before we will be moving our cars for the monthly cleaning. So please be patient.
Thanks to George Cooley and the Maintenance Team for working through all these issues so we can focus on
enjoying this beautiful summer.
