End of Year Celebration
The final event of our calendar year—the traditional Garden Club Barbecue & Picnic—will take place at the N Niguel Shores Beach Bluff on Monday, June 20 at 11:00
a.m. This is an opportunity to get together with fellow gardeners and to celebrate another great year of work, growth, and learning more about caring for Mother Nature. The event is for current members only. No guests, please.
May Speaker—We were fortunate to have Kevin Alison from the Tree of Life Nursery speak to us at our meeting on May 16, about the importance of choosing California native plants for our gardens during this current drought. These plants offer essential resources for native fauna like birds, butterflies, and other pollinators. California has experienced many droughts throughout history; this is the state’s second extreme drought in ten years, already into its third year.
New Officers—At the conclusion of our May business meeting, candidates for office for our next season were pre- sented. All nominees were approved by a voice vote. We welcome our new officers:
■ President: Lydia Reese
■ Vice President: Tom O’Keefe (Victoria Barrett will assist with speakers)
■ Secretary: Janice Stauffer
■ Treasurer: Robbie Wollin (Co-Treasurer needed)
■ Membership: Susan Courtney
■ Seashore News: Ann Strauss and Sandi Stauffer
■ Hospitality Chairs: Joanne Webb and Grace Glatt
■ Lobster Feast Chairs: Suzanne Enis and Al Glatt
