Traffic Backup at the Mariner Gate—More and more of our neighbors are having construction projects done on their residences. This brings a heavy flow of service providers to the Mariner Gate at about 7:30 each morning. All of them are eager to be screened and allowed to enter our community to start the day’s work on their various projects.
One negative is that for a brief period the congestion backs up all the way to Niguel Road and impacts the flow of traffic on that heavily traveled street.
Several people have suggested that residents returning from morning school car pools or other duties can help reduce the backup by using an alternate gate during this brief period. This simple idea has merit, and our committee requests that we use the alternative gate concept until the end of the year and we will reevaluate it then. To make the best assessment on this, we need everyone’s cooperation.
Who Do You Call in an Emergency?—Our gate attendants and patrol personnel are well-meaning and very capable, but they are not trained or authorized to handle most emergency situations. We are blessed to have a handful of residents with sufficient training to capably perform CPR and could, if available, assist if an emergency should arise along that specific line. However, my point here is that in an emergency, don’t phone the gate hoping to get someone to perform CPR or handle a disturbance. Phone 911 for the quickest response with fully-trained emergency responders.
