Page Turners Book Club: November 2021 News

This month finds the three groups of Page Turners Book Club reading and discussing the latest Kristin Hannah novel, The Four Winds. The novel deals with “the miseries of the Depression and Dust Bowl years … that … shape the destiny of a Texas family.”
Kristin Hannah is the author of about 20 novels but is probably best known for her highly successful two recent releases The Nightingale and The Great Alone, both very different in content to this month’s
selection.
In one interview concerning The Four Winds, Hannah says, “I wanted to tell a quintessentially American story. The Dust Bowl was the greatest ecological disaster in American history and that, combined with the partisan divide of the Great Depression, really spoke to me.” Another critic says this book is “for devoted Hannah fans in search of a good cry.” Should generate some good discussions!
The Monday afternoon group meets on the fourth Monday of the month, and the two Thursday afternoon groups meet on the fourth Thursday of the month. If you are thinking of joining a book club, you would be most welcome to come and visit any of the groups. For information about the Thursday groups, please contact Steve and Ann Morris at samwrsi@cox.net and for the Monday afternoon group contact me, Frances, at fozimec@cox.net.
