The Niguel Shores Men’s Club had busy (and fun!) months in September and October, and we look forward to our breakfast meetings in November.
On September 21, we hosted Brian Maryott, 49th Congressional District Candidate, who discussed the results of the Gavin Newsom recall attempt and gave a plea and glimpse into the hot issues for his upcoming congressional campaign. On October 5, Alan Hess, architect, author, and historian, delighted the membership with pictures of modern homes of the stars and shared background stories behind the designs. All seats were filled for both meetings, and the speakers received excellent reviews. Our October 19 gathering featured Dr. Dwight Stirling, CEO of the Center for Law and Military Policy, speaking on the topic “Why Do We Continue to Treat Service Members as Second Class Citizens?”
Men’s Club members Eric Eckes and Tim Williams will speak at our November 2 meeting. Both men are accomplished scuba divers with thousands of dives around the world. Eric and Tim will share underwater photos and the stories surrounding their adventures.
On November 16, we will hear from another Men’s Club member, Dennis Erdman. Dennis has served on the South Coast Water District Board of Directors and now serves on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board. Dennis and other guests will update the membership on the current drought and a glimpse into the future.
The Men’s Club hosted its Oktoberfest Celebration on October 9 in our Clubhouse. (See photos of the event on page 11 of this issue.) The sellout crowd enjoyed bratwursts, sauerkraut, potato salad, apple pie, German beer, and wine. Linda Herman and her accordion were there to entertain the guests. Eric and Margi Eckes did a fantastic job putting on this event for the Club and the community. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank them both. I’d also like to thank all of the members who helped Eric and Margi. Great job everyone! Next year’s Oktoberfest is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2022. Please put it in your calendars because it will sell out fast.
Not yet a member of our Club? Please join us as our guest. Our meetings are held at the Clubhouse on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. (but please arrive by 7:45.). You will be treated to breakfast, excellent conversation with members of our community, and an entertaining and informative speaker. We do hope you decide to join our Club. Annual dues are just $25, and breakfasts are only $5.
