We are pleased that our Seashore News editor, Sandy Homicz, was named Niguel Shores Volunteer of the Year. In her work as editor, Sandy has taken our community newsletter to a whole new level, winning recognition and awards for both our online and monthly hard copy versions.
Sandy is a former English teacher, now retired after forty years in the Los Angeles Unified District. She readily admits to “a fascination with the written word.” She is co-founder of California Writers Circle and moderates the Write On group at Dana Point Library. Her writing has appeared in Guideposts, various literary journals, on Amazon, and has earned awards from the Southern California Writers Conference and the professional journal Writer’s Digest.
As members of the Communications Committee who work with Sandy to collaborate and create the Seashore News, we can attest that she is a leader most deserving of the NSCA Volunteer Award. She works tirelessly every month to make sure that the Seashore News is a wonderful and relevant resource for every member of our community. She is responsive and sensitive to the ideas of her commit- tee members, and she encourages each of us to excel as we perform the tasks necessary to help produce the Seashore News. We have waited a long time to honor Sandy, and we are thrilled that the Niguel Shores Board has selected her as Volunteer of the Year.
