At their bi-annual joint meeting in June the members of Page Turners Book Club learned the results of their months-long process of choosing the books that the club will read from September of this year through June of next year.
Page Turners consists of three groups of eleven to twelve members each, and between them they suggested thirty-six books from which to choose nine. The books that did not make the final nine provide an excellent resource for reading at one’s leisure. So many interesting titles were suggested.
The nine books receiving the highest votes for the coming year’s reading list are as follows:
The Stranger’s Child, Alan Hollinghurst
Hamnet, Maggie O’Farrell
The Four Winds, Kristin Hannah
No Name, Wilkie Collins
The Girl From Berlin, Ronald H. Balson
Perestroika In Paris, Jane Smiley
Ordinary Grace, William Kent Krueger
The Indigo Girl, Natasha Boyd
A Farewell To Arms, Ernest Hemingway
Regular meetings resume in September on the fourth Monday and the fourth Thursday of the month. For information on the Thursday groups, please contact Steve and Ann Morris at samwrsi@cox.net and for the Monday group contact me, Frances at fozimec@cox.net.
