Page Turners: Educated by Tara Westover

This month Page Turners will be reading the only non-fiction entry in this year’s selection of books – Educated by Tara Westover. I “devoured” this book when it first came out in 2018, and am so looking forward to the discussion in our book club. “Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom.” Perhaps it would not hurt to have this information conveyed to today’s classroom populations in general – my opinion!
Random House calls this book, “An unforgettable memoir about a young girl who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University . . . With the acute insight that distinguishes all great writers, Westover has crafted a universal coming-of-age story that gets to the heart of what an education is and what it offers: the perspective to see one’s life through new eyes, and the will to change it.”
Page Turners book club consists of three groups who all read the same books at the same time. Two groups meet on the fourth Thursday afternoon of the month, and for information on the Thursday groups contact Steve and Ann Morris at samwrsi@cox.net. The other group meets on the fourth Monday afternoon of the month, and for information on that group contact me, Frances, at fozimec@cox.net.
