We’re finally getting off to a new start after such a long pause. I think we’ve never had so much time on our hands to work in our gardens! During this quarantine, my neighbor and I have spent many hours in my garden. We started calling it the Sanity Garden because it provided such peace. I hope that we all can tend our lovely little Sanity Gardens!
With masks on and bringing our own chairs, our first club event was held on September 21 at the Community Center Park in the grassy area under the shade trees. We enjoyed a boxed lunch from Panera Bread and were happy to visit with our Garden Club friends again. New members and the new Board were introduced. Our 2020-2021 Membership Books were distributed, and we reviewed the goals and history of our club, which will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in the spring.
Our agenda for the year will be flexible and developed in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions. Each month members will be emailed with information a week in advance of each meeting (usually the third Monday of each month). If you are interested in joining the Garden Club, please email our Membership Chairperson, Diane Dale, at dianedale@cox.net.
Our October 19 meeting will be a field trip to visit the “Shangri-la” of our neighborhood—Seaside Growers and Nursery in San Juan Capistrano, near Costco and the Rail- road Tracks. We will meet there at noon for a brief introduction by the owner, Jim Cassady, and then we will be free to look at all the amazing plants! Tropical, Coastal, Natives, and Desert plants will wow you. Your CA Garden Club Cards will give you a nice discount, too! You will receive an email the week prior to the meeting giving details, including driving directions. It’s a surprising little road to find!
See you then!
