Maintenance Committee: August 2020 News

Well, after a hiatus of several months when we could not meet in person, the Maintenance Committee is meeting again regularly, and has come back up to speed quickly.
Contrary to popular belief, our community required continuing maintenance even during the imposed shut down required by city, county, and state officials due to COVID-19. Even with the pool, spa, sports courts, and clubhouse closed for safety reasons, the Maintenance Staff continued working as though they were open, in order to keep everything functioning correctly. Pool chemicals and temperatures needed to be kept stable to maintain the saturation index, areas needed to be cleaned, gates were repaired, drainage issues addressed, and the Community Center maintained. The Maintenance Staff continued functioning full time as though nothing had changed, and if there was any time available, the myriad of long-term repair projects that are constantly being addressed were accelerated.
Whether you are a dog walker or not, you were certainly pleased to see the appearance of several new Mutt- Mitt waste locations over the past months. This need was addressed to help mitigate the practice of dog own- ers simply leaving their pet’s poop or, even more strange, leaving poop-
filled bags around for the proverbial “someone else” to pick up. Rather than berate these inconsiderate neighbors, let’s encour- age everyone who likes to walk in our beautiful community to pick up after themselves before someone really steps in it! A photo of a happy Mutt-Mitt user is provided here.
As always, our Committee would like to thank the Main- tenance Team who work so hard to keep Niguel Shores, the “Extremely Well-Maintained Community” it is. Sheltering in the Shores doesn’t sound bad at all. Have a happy August!
