COVID-19 Safety Precautions:
As I write this, the Governor, a host of elected school boards and individuals just announced the reinstation of older restrictions and new procedures designed to mini- mize exposure to the coronavirus. Many of these edicts will significantly impact certain aspects of our lives, especially when it comes to school, dining out, recreation, social and cultural events, and our working environment.
Our Board of Directors and Staff have also implemented changes in procedures to ensure for the safety of everybody in our community, plus our guests and employees. Guests or non-residents will be not be allowed to park their vehicles at the Bluff parking lot, use the pool, tennis or Pickleball courts. They are restricted to parking near the host home. Our restric- tion on the Bluff parking will help to provide adequate personal space at each table without unnecessary “people” congestion. Limiting the pool and other amenities only to residents is cer- tainly an inconvenience, but it will maximize each swimmer’s personal space and is consistent with restrictions adopted by HOAs throughout the country. Of course, all of these restric- tions will be closely monitored and may be modified as needed.
I knew some of you would be wondering, so I checked with both Black’s Law Dictionary and several local scholars and I came up with the best possible definition of “resident” that I could. “A resident is a person who lives somewhere permanently on a long-term basis.”
Coyote Sighting: We have received reports of coyote sightings in several areas of the community. Sadly, sev- eral folks have already reported missing cats. The multiple reports suggest that the coyotes may belong to a “family” with a younger pup, a mother and a bigger than usual male pack leader.
Animal control and our deputy sheriffs will not nor- mally respond to calls about them. The best thing we can do is to ensure that food is not left out, and to accompany our pets when they go outside to the yard. Also, it is important to pick up pet waste as soon as you can, since coyotes have learned to pick through scat to find undigested nutrients.
Lock it or Lose it: Remember most thieves are oppor-
tunists. Locking cars and closing garage doors has proven to deter thefts and burglaries.
