We have left the month of Cupid’s Arrows and now approach Lucky Leprechauns in March! Our Valentine Luncheon was decorated with all shades of pinks and reds on tables as well as in fashions worn by our festively outfitted ladies. We exchanged heartfelt Valentines with tablemates as an outward expression of our friendships, and we collected a big basket of extra Valentines for delivery to the Fountains Alzheimer’s Unit to help recall memories of this loving holiday.
After a delicious array of healthy salads prepared by our members, we heard from our featured speakers, Sandy Homicz, editor of the Seashore News, and Lisa Buchner, president of Friends of the DP Library. Sandy presented the story of the Seashore News, now in its 47th year, hav- ing published 555 issues since its beginning in 1973. She explained how the publication has changed throughout the years, noted the awards it has received, gave honors to past editors, and thanked the many residents who bring the news to Niguel Shores each month. Lisa introduced the Dana Point Library Branch Manager, Laura Blasingham, and her note- worthy involvement in the library. Lisa highlighted the doz- ens of special events for children and adults provided by the Friends of the Library through their fundraising and sales at the Friends Bookstore, where many of our Women’s Club members are volunteers. The Friends welcome more volun- teers who want to share their love of books and interest in literacy by giving some of their time to the bookstore.
On March 12, we invite all Women’s Club members to our popular Fashion Show Luncheon. Our models will “Sail into Spring” as they display the unique clothing from Soft Sur- roundings in the Shops at Mission Viejo. The designs, quality, style and comfort of their finery will be a joy to observe and will provide an exceptional show. For lunch, there will be catered boxed lunches from Panera Bread. Note: Please fill out the Lunch Order Form in the Office by the deadline on March 6 along with your check for $15 made out to NSWC. The completed form will be your reservation to attend the fashion show and luncheon. We cannot take reservations after March 6.
Our Outside Activity this month is a trip to Sherman Gar- dens and Le Jardin Cafe in Corona Del Mar on March 19.
We would love to have all interested women of Niguel Shores join us for one of our monthly luncheons. Please contact Jennifer Paige jopaige@aol.com or Judi Pal- ladino twopalls@yahoo.com for more information about membership with NSWC.
