Page Turners’ meeting year runs from September through June and we read a book each month with the exception being December. So far this year we have read three vastly differ- ent novels, namely Where the Crawdads Sing (American author), A Ladder to the Sky (Irish author), and Bear Town (Swedish author). Each of these works has produced lively
and interesting discussions in both groups. We often hear it said, “The reason I belong to a book club is to read books I otherwise would not read.” This is so true because the discus- sions and viewpoints are so varied you could sometimes ask yourself, “Did we read the same book!”
In December both the Monday and Thursday afternoon groups will meet socially on December 19 (perhaps in a pri- vate home this year) to celebrate the holiday season, while enjoying delicious member-made refreshments and having our traditional very fun blind book exchange.
We resume our book discussions in January when the topic of conversation will be A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. For information on the Thursday afternoon group contact Steve and Ann Morris at samwrsi@cox.net and for the Monday afternoon group, Frances at fozimec@cox.net.
