Traffic & Safety Committee:

Be Watchful:
For the past months, just before dawn, a handful of “transient” looking individuals have been gaining entrance to our community by climbing over the walls, slipping through the gates, and crawling up the PCH embankments.
So far, their most serious conduct has been trespassing and rummaging through trash cans. Normally, as soon as they detect the presence of our Securitas personnel, they scurry away.
We would be naive if we didn’t entertain a concern that under the right circumstance any of these individuals could succumb to temptation and steal all they could, should the opportunity present itself. The good news is
that even the simplest precaution will discourage and stop these opportunists nearly all of the time.
All we have to do is lock our vehicles and close and lock our garages. This strategy, for the past few years, has been almost 100% effective.
Holiday Season:
Our holiday season begins this month, starting with Diwali (Festival of Lights) on October 27. This is a family sharing day and there are no safety concerns associated with it. A couple of days later, for many children, Halloween is an extra exciting day and, unfortunately, a dangerous one.
Too often trick or treating children unexpectantly dash into the street in the first hours of darkness and are struck by passing vehicles. Our message here is watch your children and watch out for trick or treaters dashing from house to house. Have a happy Diwali and safe Halloween!
