Traffic & Safety Committee: Parking Permits and Contact Information

Parking Permits and Contact Information: Recently we began a process to expedite the annual renewal of overnight street parking permits. For the residents we were able to contact, the process went well. Unfortunately, a surprising number of folks had either changed their phone numbers or had
their phone service discontinued. If we cannot reach these folks, their yearly special permits will expire and they will be precluded from overnight street parking. Additionally, with expiration of the permit, the bar code will be automatically deactivated and the ability to enter our community via our electronically controlled gates will cease.
My point here is to remind everyone to update the office with changes of your phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
Doing this may well facilitate communications in case of an emergency, or it can help in delivering a message about administrative matters.
Guest Lists: Good news: Our gate attendants report that we are doing a great job of giving updates on our guest lists. As a result, traffic has been moving smoothly through the gates with minimal frustration by guests.
More good news: It keeps getting easier to electronically update your guest list. You can now download an App for our dwellingLIVE system and update your list on your smart phone from just about anywhere.
As we all know, we are responsible for the conduct of our guests. That also includes something as simple as ensuring that they place their guest passes on the dash. One recent gathering had six extra cars parked in a neighborhood but none of them had their passes clearly displayed. This could have resulted in a fine for the host as well as towing fees for
the owners of the vehicles.
Pedestrian Traffic: Recently, we have had several near collisions involving cars and pedestrians. Drivers must be aware: You have a great responsibility and will be likely deemed at fault should you fail to drive cautiously and collide with a pedestrian. On the other hand, pedestrians should cautiously cross the street.
Rules: In case you are curious, specific limitations and rules for our Beach Bluff are posted at the Bluff. Enjoy the rest of summer, be safe, and God Bless!
