The December 4 holiday breakfast, prepared by the Baker-Glatt Team under the stewardship of Steve Morris, served a chili relleno souffle and fruit to a full clubhouse of members and guests of the gentler persuasion. Everyone enjoyed a program of Christmas carols sung by the South Orange County School of Arts Choir, more popularly known as the Dana Hills High School Dickens Choir. The choir’s dynamic vocal music director, Ray Medina, invited our own C Dub to conduct Deck the Halls, and C Dub performed his role well! A great season, a great group, a great community, and a great breakfast.
At our December 18 year-end meeting, a delicious breakfast by the Enger Team was followed by recognition honoring our Niguel Shores hard-working staff members.
Then producer Ted Bowersox shared his award-winning documentary film Timeless Rivals, which chronicled the early days of professional football and the effect of a fierce high school rivalry— first played in 1894—on the game of football. The Dana Point Times said the teams, located seven mile apart from one another in Canton, Ohio, “produced 36 state championships, 11 national championships, 50 NFL players, five NFL head coaches, 10 College Hall of Fame inductees, two Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees and 15 Super Bowl rings.” The Men’s Club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month for breakfast and interesting programs.
