Page Turner’s Book Club: Quartet in Autum by Barbara Pym

The Monday afternoon and Thursday afternoon groups of Page Turners will meet October 22 and 25 respectively to discuss Quartet in Autumn by Barbara Pym (1913-1980).
Written in 1977 and short-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 1980, Quartet in Autumn follows the lonely lives of four single people in their sixties who work together in London as they approach retirement.
Pym is often compared to Jane Austen, whom she revered, and it has been said that her novels “still sparkle as jewels on the literary landscape.” The Barbara Pym Society is an international literary society devoted to this author. They hold annual meetings at Oxford University, Boston, and London. Extensive information is available online regarding Pym’s work.
For information regarding the Thursday Page Turners group, please contact Ann and Steve Morris at samwrsi@cox.net and, for the Monday afternoon group, Frances at fozimec@cox.net.
