A change of genre for Page Turners this month as they delve into Anthony Horowitz’s mystery/crime novel Magpie Murders, which is described on the book’s inside cover as a “. . . fiendishly brilliant, riveting thriller [that] weaves a classic whodunit worthy of Agatha Christie into a chilling, ingeniously original modern-day mystery.” Horowitz, in addition to being a bestselling English novelist specializing in mystery and suspense, is further known for his large volume of work for children and teenagers. He has also written a number of TV screen plays, including the popular PBS show Midsomer Murders, and was the creator and principal writer for the series Foyle’s War. According to LitLovers.com, “The estate of Arthur Conan Doyle selected Horowitz as the writer of a new Sherlock Holmes novel, the first such effort to receive an official endorsement. The resulting book, The House of Silk, came out in 2011, followed by Moriarty in 2014.”
The Monday and Thursday afternoon groups of Page Turners will meet November 26 and November 29 respectively.
The meeting time for both groups is 1:00 p.m. For information on the Thursday group please contact Steve and Ann Morris at samwrsi@cox.net and for the Monday afternoon group, Frances Ozimec at fozimec@cox.net.
