For their April book the Monday and Thursday afternoon groups of Page Turners will discuss News of the World by Paulette Jiles. The story revolves around Captain Kidd, an itinerant who travels through northern Texas giving live readings of the news. Along the way, Kidd is enlisted to deliver Johanna, an orphan girl, to her long forgotten relatives. The book has been described as “. . . a brilliant work of historical fiction that explores the boundaries of family, responsibility, honor and trust.” The LitLovers website says,“Stripped down to its bare bones, News of the World is the tale of a hero and heroine’s journey.
