Everyone enjoyed a festive time at our December 5, 2017 breakfast where the Clark Team prepared a healthy breakfast for the large gathering of members, their guests, and the invited Women’s Club.
Jack Christiansen arranged a decorative setting with poinsettias on each table, and many members placed gifts under the lighted tree for our Fire Department’s delivery to underprivileged children.
Dick Sergeant even brought his teddy bear! In the spirit of the holidays, CW Gruenig arranged for the Dana Hills High School Choir to present a medley of seasonal music. Carli James, a student choir member, served very successfully as choirmaster for a superb choral performance by talented, serious students having fun.
Our December 19 meeting included breakfast by the Enger Team and featured Diane Harkey, Chairwoman, California State Board of Equalization. Ms Harkey has been working for our community in a number of capacities through the years including as Dana Point City Council member and Mayor, three terms in the California State Assembly representing the 73rd
District encompassing south Orange County. Ms Harkey advocates for policies that support job creation in the private sector, improving California’s state budget outlook, and reducing the burden of complying with government audits and various tax regulations. She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and enjoyed a successful 30-year career in corporate finance and banking. Working in good and bad economic climates with individuals, small business owners, and leaders of publicly-traded companies helped form the pragmatic business perspective that she brings to the Board of Equalization.
We will resume our breakfast meetings on January 16 at 8 a.m. with our current slate of officers continuing their duties for another year. We welcome new members to join us.
