September brought some great weather and great golf. We had outings at Talega and San Juan Hills. On September 19 we played our monthly tournament at Tijeras Creek. The course was in great shape and the big buck prize money on the line brought out the best of the Shores players.
With 20 golfers signed up to play, we set the game to be “1,2,3, Foursome Teams.” In this game the first hole score is the best net score of the four players. The second hole score is the second best net scores of the four players. The third hole is the third best net scores of the four players. The remaining holes are scored in the same rotation.
This format along with player handicaps makes the teams very equal and gives everyone a great chance to win. This format also is a bit hard to follow and allows me (the Scorer) a chance to manipulate whomever I want to win! Of course I would never do that.
■ 1st place: Nick Werniche, John Torok, John Monson, and Bill Johnson with a score of 118.
■ 2nd place: Rick Palmer, Chis Dolkas, Morry Dohner, and Bill Verbrugge with a score of 124.
■ 3rd place: Mike Stiverly, Jim Duss, and Pat Zahner with a score of 127.
■ Closet to the pin on #5 Mike Stively, and on #14 Morry Dohner.
(My team came in last so I obviously didn’t do a good job of manipulating the scores.)
In October we will be playing San Juan Hills,Talega, and Arroyo Trabuco.
