Garden Club: August 2017 News

As reported in last month’s Seashore News the Garden Club joyously held its annual June BBQ, which was a great success. In addition to that activity, on June 12 the Orange County District Office of the California Garden Clubs, of which we are a member, held its district meeting at Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar. Francine Stout, Linda Koppang, and Chris Daley attended as our club representatives for this business meeting that discussed new district bylaws and requirements.
During this time Roger’s Gardens also held its Annual Amateur Rose Competition.
Our club member Barbara Berez entered that competition as one of 40 to 50 participants and approximately 150 submissions. To everyone’s delight, Barbara was awarded third place for her homegrown rose. Isn’t that great! Check out the picture of Barbara and her winning rose, and you can see how beautiful her entry was.
The Garden Club will not meet in August. Our meetings will resume in September on the third Monday of the month at noon in the Clubhouse. All interested residents are invited to join us for a new season of informative speakers, lively garden discussions, and unique field trips.
