Women’s Golf: February 2017

Women’s Golf—Happy New Year
Our Niguel Shores Lady Golfers kicked off the holidays in style with the annual Christmas luncheon hosted by Ruthie Stahl and Joan Beyer at The Fountains on December 12. Charter members Margaret Brugger, Carol Hollinger, and Liz Kelsch were recognized and a special welcome was given to Marge Foster, Rita Cox and the return of Terri Matrisch.
Ruthie and Joan arranged for a delicious lunch and some very nice raffle prizes—gift certificates to the Ritz Carlton—which ensured all who attended had a wonderful time!
Our December birthdays were celebrated for Judy Boitano, Terri Matrisch, and a very special milestone birthday for Ceacy Johns who turned 90 on the 18th! Happy birthday, ladies!
For our January 9 meeting, Irene McDonald led the group through monthly meeting business and a lovely lunch, in spite of the rainy weather causing the golf to be cancelled. Social members Ceacy Johns, Ruthie Stahl, Joan Beyer, Lee Sweeney and Pam Strayer didn’t let a few raindrops dampen their penchant for partying at The Ranch (formerly Ben Brown’s 9-hole Golf Course in Laguna).
Our next regularly scheduled golf day will be the second Monday of the month, February 13. All lady golfers regardless of skill are welcome and encouraged to join us by calling Irene McDonald at 949-481-3035.
A little golf humor:
It was a sunny Saturday morning and I was beginning my pre-shot routine, visualizing my upcoming shot, when a voice came over the speaker: ‘WOULD THE GENTLEMAN ON THE WOMAN’S TEE BACK UP TO THE MEN’S TEE PLEASE.’ I was still deep in my routine, seemingly impervious to the interruption.
Again the announcement rang out louder, ‘Would the MAN on the WOMEN’S tee kindly back up to the men’s tee.’ I simply ignored the request and kept concentrating, when once more, the man yelled, ‘Would the man on the woman’s tee back up to the men’s tee, PLEASE.’
I finally stopped, turned, looked through the clubhouse window directly at the person with the microphone and shouted back, ‘Would the person in the clubhouse kindly stop shouting and let me play my second shot’
