Men’s Golf: Talega Golf Trip

We started the New Year with our monthly tournament on January 17 at Talega Golf Club in San Clemente. We had 24 players and the game was 1,2,3 Fore-some.
This a great format that is scored by counting the best net score of the four players on hole #1. The 2nd hole is total of the 2 best net scores, and the 3rd hole is total of 3 best net scores. The remaining holes are scored using the same rotation. This format is a great equalizer for all players.
1st place: Mike Stiverly, Gary Beneke, Morry Dohner, and Bob Russell with a total score of 125.
2nd place: Rick Palmer, Bill Johnson, Nick Werneke, and Bill Verbrugge with a total score of 126.
3rd place: Roy Dohner, Kent Wellbrock, Matt Kelliher, and Mike Baskin with a total score of 133.
Closest to the pin on hole #5 went to John Monson and on hole #17 Kent Wellbrock.
In addition to our monthly tournament, which is held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, we play a great selection of courses here in Orange County.
In February we will be playing Talega, Monarch Links, and San Juan Hills. In March we will return to Talega on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, and will have our first outing to Pelican Hills on March 14. We finish the month at San Juan Hills on March 28.
