The Women’s Club’s new officers have an exciting year of interesting and dynamic speakers and events planned, beginning with the luncheon on September 11 at 12:00 noon in the ClubHouse. Lunch will be served at 12:30. Look for your e-mail invitation on Thursday, September 4 and please answer to let us know if you are coming by Sunday, September 7. If you are planning to attend, you will then be informed by e-mail about bringing a salad. The luncheon attendance fee is $3. Members are to bring a salad for 10 to 12 every other time they attend. Members bringing guests will be asked to pay $5 for each guest and are not required to bring an extra salad.
The speaker will be Barbara Johannes, President of the Dana Point Historical Society. A member of the Society for more than 15 years, Barbara has served as Preservation Chair and Vice President and has been on the Society’s annual Home Tour Committee since 2001. She and her husband Keith have lived in Dana Point since 1969 and reside in a 1928 Woodruff Historical Home they have restored.
Barbara will present an overview of the Dana Point history from 1914 to the present, highlighting the story of Blanch Dolph and Dolph House, the city’s oldest building, which is having its 100th anniversary this year. There will also be a short review of the Society’s history, its goals, and the home tours they have sponsored for over a decade.
The Society’s 14th annual Home Tour will take place here in Niguel Shores on Sunday, October 5th. Members of the Historical Society will be selling tickets after the luncheon program. Single ticket prices will $35 on the day of the event.
The Women’s Club will also have a raffle at the luncheon with the grand prize a free ticket to the Home Tour. Here are the raffle rules: one raffle ticket per $1 donation, six for $5. Two winners will be chosen, each one winning one ticket. You must be present to win. All donation money received will help!
