The Oreo Book Club meeting was held at the home of Janet MacKaig on Wednesday, August 20. The group discussed the book Russians: The People Behind the Power, written by Gregory Feifer. The discussion was led by Mary Crowl and focused on our own experiences and perceptions with regard to Russian attitudes and philosophical inclinations. Even though handicapped by excessive drinking, concentration of wealth and corruption in civic and private areas, it is hoped that they can eventually veer closer to Western judicial and social values. The next meeting will be September 17 at the home of Mary Crowl and the group will review the book: Train: Riding the Rails that Created the Modern World by Tom Zoellner.
