The Men’s Club had its major fund-raising event of the year at the Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast. Attendance was outstanding, with more than 550 delicious breakfasts served up to an eager and hungry crowd. In addition, Niguel Shores logo apparel was displayed, and was snapped up by many attendees. Pictures of the festivities appear elsewhere in this edition.
The usual Men’s Club meeting on the first Tuesday of the month was not held because of the closeness of the pancake breakfast date. To make up for the skipped meeting, the Club hosted two terrific speakers on July 15: Dr. Marshall Reddick (a protégé of Ross Perot), who spoke on the importance of setting goals for oneself, whether they be financial, career, retirement, or relationships. A life without goals is like a ship without a helm. Of equal importance is doing things, including work that you enjoy.
Our second speaker, Irving Katz, urged us to live healthful lives through diet, exercise and mental stimulation.
He was assisted by his personal trainer who got the men to stand up, swing their arms, twist, bend, squat (getting up was a bit iffy, and you could hear the joints creaking), and breathe in plenty of fresh air.
It was also amonth of sadness, because the Club lost two long-time members—Ian Ross and Don Beaver. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to their families, and wish them well.
The Men’s Golf Club will hold its next outing at Talega Golf Course.
