The Garden Club held its final meeting for the 2011-12 year at its annual Beach Bluff Bar-B-Q. A large turnout enjoyed the many tasty dishes provided by the members, plus outstanding hamburgers done to perfection under the careful supervision of chef extraordinaire Bob Borland.
Jerry Koppang, re-elected for a new two-year term as President, thanked the outgoing Vice President, Janet Dohner, and introduced the newly elected officers who will serve two-year terms: Vice President—Irene Hopson; Secretary—Melanie Wilcox; Treasurer—Karl Kuhn; Membership Chairperson—Gunjan Anand, and Morry Meadow as Seashore News Correspondent.
President Koppang also announced that the annual plant sale was a huge success, and resulted in an all-time high $1,000 profit for the Club, the proceeds to be used for club sponsorship of local reforestation efforts and financial support of county and state garden organizations.
Plans are underway to prepare another educational and fun-filled year beginning in September. Look for our next report in the October Seashore News.
