The February luncheon will be in the ClubHouse at noon on the 9th. The program will be a 30-minute HBO documentary film about Dr. Rick Hodes, an American doctor who has lived and worked in Ethiopia for 20 years, caring for the health of immigrants from that country to Israel, as a medical consultant at a Catholic mission and has also worked with refugees in other African countries. In 2007, Dr. Hodes was selected as a finalist for “CNN Heroes,” he was honored as ABC’s Person of the Week in 2010, his work is the subject of the above mentioned HBO documentary Making the Crooked Straight, and a new book, This is a Soul: The Mission of Rick Hodes. His connection to Niguel Shores: He is the son of Betts Flynn, former resident and friend of many of our members. Betts will conduct a Q&A session after the showing of the film.
