Page Turners Book Club will meet on Monday, October 24, to discuss Pearl of China by Anchee Min. In a southern town in China, in the last days of the nineteenth century, two young girls bump heads and become friends. Willow is the only child of a destitute family. Pearl is the headstrong daughter of Christian missionaries who grows up to become Pearl. S. Buck, Nobel Prize winning author. This unlikely pair become lifelong friends who face civil war and exile.
The morning group will meet at 10:00 at the home of Ann Christiansen, 23841 Bluehill Bay. Ann will provide refreshments. The afternoon group will meet at Hansa Sehgal’s, 33671 Windlass, at 12:30.
